Michael Cuthbert

Dr Cuthbert joined the National Quantum Computing Centre as the Centre Director in June 2020. After completing a BSc in Chemical Physics from the University of Glasgow, he pursued his PhD at the Imperial College, followed by a PDRA position at the University of Bristol. With a background in cryogenics, superconducting materials and solid-state physics research, Michael joined Oxford Instruments in 1998. He has held many technical and commercial leadership roles with Oxford Instruments for over 22 years, based in Japan, North America and the UK, most recently as the Head of Quantum Technologies across the Oxford Instruments Group. He is a member of the Institute of Physics and sits on several advisory panels including the UK National Quantum Technologies Programme Strategic Advisory Board.
